The Inner Me

The Inner Me

A Poem by Aishangi Chakraborty

Tell me if I am an emotional less git.

Tell me that I am not worth a thing.

Tell me that whatever I do is trash.

Tell me that I can't get worse than that.

What's is it you see when you look at me?

Is it my face? My skin? My eyes?

My lips? My hair?

Whatever it is, I don't care.

Cause when you look at my eyes

You just see the iris, not my soul behind.

When you look at my skin

You just see the color

, not the scars it hides.

When you look at my lips

You just see the curves, not the trembling it does when I try not to cry.

You don't see my heart.

You don't feel my pain.

You are so oblivious to everything

I wonder if you are still there or if I have lost you again.

Talk to me mindlessly.

Fear not if I can feel.

Because a crushed heart never beats,

A wounded soul never heals.
