The Nobodies

The Nobodies

A Poem by matpat

They're the ones some don't see

the ones some don't care about

the ones some don't know of

the ones some have no time for

the ones who are different

the ones some treat like trash

They're the ones with hearts

the ones with feelings

the ones who want to be great

the ones who want to be noticed

the ones who have dreams

the ones who reach for the stars

They're the ones who have tried

the ones who have made mistakes

the ones who have learned

the ones who will try again

They're the ones who don't care about what has been said about them

the ones who have learned to move on

the ones who don't hide behind a screen

the ones who don't waste their times

the ones who control their own life

They're the Nobodies

A different twist on the idea of being invisible. I first thought about people who are diminished by being disregarded. But in your poem, there's a note of strength & owning one's oddball life. This is what makes your message unique, unexpected, & inspiring. So what if we're nobodies -- our self-esteem isn't dependent on other people's acknowledgements. Love this uplifting message.

sure, no problem :)
I love this because I know that, in real life, that it's usually the nobodies, the eccentrics who follow their own paths, those who are never concerned with being trendy or becoming attention hounds, that likely have a uniqueness about them that lets them become visionary artists, writers, thinkers. In their own way they are lucky that their lives let them develop without being under the microscope of peer pressure.
