Progression Of Life..by Michael

Progression Of Life..by Michael

A Poem by Michael Reisman

The caterpillar sits on a milkweed plant and feeds itself.
A time for a change is near.
It spins a cocoon and hangs from a branch or twig
As the sleep sets in. A new form emerges with wings
As it flies to the heavens above, a progression of life.
The doctor holds up a baby girl as I look through the delivery
Room window. A smile mixed with tears of joy fill my eyes.
She grows up to an adult as the progression of life continues.
Amanda sat by my bedside when I was dying and held my hand.
The milkweed of my youth has been all but eaten and digested
As my cocoon of sleep surrounded my soul.
Wings of a different form took place as I ascended to Heaven.
A daughter met her father when the time was right.
We hugged and kissed once again as it was a moment to
Continue the progression of life...
