Peace With Each Other..by Michael

A Story by Michael Reisman

She left Vietnam after the war and became a citizen of the United States. A new life in a new country for her and the fourteen year old daughter she brought with her, leaving old memories of a war that both sides were trying to forget. She became a waitress in a restaurant as her salary and tips helped paid the bills. It was just another customer at the table she served until he said "you look very familiar to me". She replied "so do you". They both agreed to meet after her shift was over and decided to on going to a local bar in the neighborhood. It was time to talk as they both placed themselves way back when a war was going on. He was on patrol in her village that was secured by American troops. She remembered now making love to a soldier who now sat next to her at the bar. The daughter woke from her bedroom as he was invited to spend the night at her apartment. "I would like to introduce your daughter to you", she said with tears in her eyes. The three of them hugged for quite a long time as memories and emotions filled the air. A daughter he never raised was now his main goal. He played with her and captured fond memories of dolls from the past. A family reunited that soon made it official by a wedding the following month. Love has a way before and after wars that finally made peace with each other....
