A Daisy For Beverly..by Michael

A Daisy For Beverly..by Michael

A Story by Michael Reisman

Beverly was fascinated by daisies ever since she was a young child. For some reason that flower always attracted her attention. It never stopped, even up to her being an adult and now thirty four years old. There was one memory however that she had forgotten, but will soon surface and unfold in this short story. Beverly became a regular customer at a local nightclub every Friday night after work. There was someone else there that noticed her on those same nights he also attended. After the third time of his spotting her, his memory came back to him. She was his first girlfriend in a public school while being in eight grade. Billy remembered how they first met and decided to surprise her the following Friday evening. A stranger approached her and offered to buy her a drink. She thought he was quite attractive and accepted his request. He vaguely looked familiar, but she couldn't quite place from where or when. After a few minutes of pleasant conversation, Billy opened up his backpack and took out a daisy. He handed it to her and said "this was how we first met a long time ago in eight grade". Her memory surfaced once again as they hugged and kissed, not as children, but as two adults. It was her favorite flower along with an old favorite boyfriend. What more can you ask for? Vases at each table were filled with daisies as that as that was the flower theme for their wedding reception the following year. The bride gave an emotional speech to the guests at this special event. It was about how they first met and finally got back together. On their honeymoon, a daisy was left on top of her pillow before they went to bed. The romance continues as so do the memories. Maybe the flower of our youth becomes apparent once again in a memory stirred up by a Friday night meeting. The fascination continues in a short love story about Beverly and his wife, where there was always a daisy for Beverly....
