Life Support..by Michael

A Story by Michael Reisman

It was the toughest and most heart wrenching decision that Gary would ever make. Geraldine was in a coma now for three months as the doctors told him there would be no recovery possible. It was time for that choice to be made. He signed the necessary forms and the plug was to be pulled the next day. What made this even more painful was the fact that she was his wife to be. It was one week before their wedding when she was struck by a car which caused this unexpected turn of events. He held her limp hand the night before and talked to her one last time. A fifteen minute speech to Geraldine fell on deaf ears as he tried to explain what was about to happen. She was in a place where souls go to when they leave the body. A warm glowing loving white light with a figure of an angel spoke to her. "It's not your time, so you must go back to fulfill what is supposed to happen". Geraldine traveled back through a tunnel that led her there to begin with. A tear was shed from her eyes as she squeezed his hand. He yelled out for the doctors as they came rushing into the room. All vital signs on the monitor ran upwards to normal settings. His tears mixed with hers as they dripped onto her face that contained a smile. The doctors didn't understand what had just happened but that wasn't really important right now. Three days later he picked up his future wife as a complete recovery was made. The wedding was late but happened anyway as planned, just delayed. A team of doctors attended who were invited by Gary and Geraldine. Their story was told as the guests stood up and applauded and cried at a miracle that was supposed to be. Maybe we hold hands for a last time but turns out not to be that way. Love and angels have something to do with it. Case in point in a short love story involving Gary, Geraldine, and life support....

Beautiful. Sometimes things are beyond our control. Call it fate, angels, higher power, God, whatever. Nice story with a happy ending. I like those...
