The Following Summer..by Michael

A Poem by Michael Reisman

They hold hands during summer while wading
In a pool. He catches a colored blowing leaf
In the fall and hands it to her as gesture of love.
She holds on tight to his waist while sleigh riding
Down a slope during winter. In spring, a young man's
Fancy turns to love. She accepts the engagement ring
As romantic trails lead to their marriage the following summer.

I love how the romance progresses through traditional and conventional seasons. It puts things into place one of my childhood friend's mothers used to say "traditions exist for a reason" which is vague but I think it a proper response. It's hot secondly, really hot. We all want that ring too, especially beforehand when we don't have it
