Public School Bathroom

Public School Bathroom

A Poem by Ainslie

When I saw him holding her hand
I felt like I was going to throw up
I sad on the bathroom floor straddling the toilet
With the stall door closed
For the next two class periods
I think it was all the memories my body was trying to eject
The anxieties of "what if she can't save him"
And the heartbreak that he finally wasn't mine anymore
They sent me home
After a teacher heard me puking between sobs
Though they can't diagnose me with a broken heart
All I did was sleep when I returned home
I couldn't bear being conscious knowing he was hers

Your emotions are very raw and powerful. I adore the image of the pain and heart break because often I read people just saying that their heart is broken but you show it very well through actions, well done. Thank you for writing.
