Butterflies

Butterflies

A Poem by Ainslie

There's a gaping hole
Located in my heart
Something is stealing
Air from my lungs
Maybe
It's the butterflies I once had for you
That now belong to her

Beautiful. I love your twist on the plain old 'butterflies in my stomach' idea. It was a very refreshingly interesting idea, where do those butterflies go when your heart breaks? When I read your poem a heart breaking image came to my mind of a heart shattering and from the confines a cloud of butterflies fleeing. Thank you for writing.

A short but powerful piece. I think we've all felt this at some point. It's a terrible feeling.

I really like this. I have experienced this feeling, but never thought of it quite like this. The butterfly idea was a really good metaphor for this. :)
