The Palindrome

The Palindrome

A Poem by Emily Rose
"

The same from both sides

"
She is a palindrome -
The same from every angle.
As such, she can never escape herself.
That could be a gift, but if it is she undervalues it:
it means that she is perpetually the Is Not,
and she's so tired of the negative.
She is the rare possessor
of an inescapable self:
a palindrome.

Her name, at least, is balanced.

Author's Note

Emily Rose
Sorry I've been absent lately! Part of the reason is that I've had a bit of a dry spell in poetry lately, and this little one was the end of that dry spell. I know the imagery's not terribly good, but I liked the idea of using a word as a representation. And yes, there was a particular palindrome I was thinking of when I wrote this. :)
