Lay Down Your Burdens

Lay Down Your Burdens

A Poem by Aidan
"

A piece from the vault. I wrote this one a very, very long time ago. Cleaned it up a bit.

"

Lay down your heavy,

heavy burdens

Put them, at long last,

to rest.

Let the howling winds die down,

and the churning waters grow still

Let the days bloom brightly,

and the long dark nights fade in peace

Let the bright blue sky part the storm clouds,

so that the birds can once again fly high  and free

Pull open the curtains and lift up the window,

let the clear air flow through

Reach out,

cut down the space that has grown between me and you

Let the grass in the fields grow high and green

                   -  higher than they have been in a long, long time.
