The Last Fruit

The Last Fruit

A Poem by Aidan
"

One of my more well received pieces.

"

I offer you my body,

a sacrifice of blood and bone
I offer you my soul,

a gift of fresh fruit,

Fully bloomed ripe and full

Bite into the tender flesh,

peeling back layer upon unraveling layer,

breaking through brittle boundaries

as my life rolls slowly down your chin

I offer you

peaches,

pomegranate,

and passion fruit;

all manner of sweet, sweet things

What I offer you,
and what you take

a feast for two

Until naught is left but

cores, pits, rinds, and rib-bones

Seeds left for you -

left to one day grow strong

once more.
