Remain

Remain

A Poem by Aidan

You

are like a dream

only half remembered.

A dying fire,

left only as faint, flickering embers

A face

that I can't seem to call to mind

or that heavy feeling I get,

looking back at all of the time left behind.

The lonely sound of rain

cascading against the roof at midnight

or the blood red color of the sun,

as the sky slowly slips into twilight

These are the things I paint

on the ceilings during the quiet hours of the night,

These are the things I feel during hours without light.
