Broken Worlds

Broken Worlds

A Poem by Angelica

Outside the sun’s waiting
behind clouds that cry
with worlds that don’t belong.
My mouth hangs dry
with watering eyes.
Tell me why we live like this.

Please keep us safe and warm
inside your arms like the sun.
Shine over me, shine.

We’re broken toys whose lost
the innocence, how do we restore?
What happened to friends made,
and promises once kept?
Give us life to live again.

Lock the doors so me may capture
all the voices unheard. We all
have choices, we just need
to make the right ones,
for under the shots and glaring lights
we are at war, we live like this.

Shine over us, shine over all.
Bring back truth, bring back lives
and keep them safe and warm.

We are broken, the children gone.
How do we restore the innocence
lost. Have no more promises, just
actions made. Give us life to live again.
