Not an Athlete

Not an Athlete

A Poem by Angelica

After miles of running from end to end
I lay dumb and numb in an athlete’s euphoria.
Yet, it only lasts for straggling seconds
as my heart’s beat pulsates through my veins.

Images of him lay humming in my mind from bend to bend.
I try to shake, but break as they are my ecstasy.
I catch my breath for meager minutes
then I’m off as distress tears through my muscles.

I run down winding roads that extend and extend
trying to catch and latch the longed delirium.
Yet, my legs’ pain doesn’t overcome my heart’s for heavy hours
as I fall on the ground with tears running though inside.

Hmm Angelica, this was such an interesting piece. I really loved how you used something like running to express your emotions.
I would like to believe that you are running towards something and not from it.
Through the years I have found that a very valuable lesson learnt and I try my best to stick with it (well most of the times)

Very enjoyable piece
