Car Crash of a Heart

Car Crash of a Heart

A Poem by Angelica

Walking away from the car crash of a heart
the red lights of the ambulance flash brightly enough.
Desperately choking on my own tears
I’m trying to catch your hand in mine.

If love is not suppose to hurt
I guess I’m just a pile of broken pieces.
Maybe I’m not fit to be a victim of Cupid’s arrow
because my resistance is never distance enough.

Walking away from the car crash of a heart
I run to the comfort of my bed where it’s quiet enough.
Sleeping the feelings away as I lay
by myself next to the void right beside me.

If this is giving up, then I guess I’m giving up
on love.
