Pesky flies pinch and bite; a pack of moronic wolves howl
all while drool flows as a river from their mouths.
Teeth bared, I’m trapped within a pile of filth
as their grimy hands caress
my skin, but no screams leave my lips
as their perked ears try to find my heart.
Sorry to say, but I gave my heart away
to man with whom my heart lies stuck under his foot
like a piece of chewed gum; a heart crushed
as he walks farther and farther away
along with the light that brightens
these dreary days.
Cornered by this pack of wolves all waiting for my scream,
searching for the heart that isn’t there,
a smirk reaches my face as there is
nothing here to satisfy them for I am now gone
as is my heart that I gave away
for I am already gone from this body.
