Fly Away and Never Come Back

Fly Away and Never Come Back

A Poem by Angelica

A blue jay perched upon my window sill
sang such sweet a song opening to my heart.
There I gave my heart away for the one I loved
leaving it in the open air as the darling blue jay
came taking it away. Blissful moments lasting
a lifetime, dear memories always kept.
Yet, it’s time wasn’t meant to be, and
there my heart came back to me.

Years flew by before the darling blue jay perched
once again upon my window sill. A new love,
a new hope; there I gave my heart completely,
but the dear blue jay turned its back as a vulture
came taking it away. With its hollow eyes never
leaving me it took my heart two hundred feet
dropping it from the air as it fell to thick thorns
below. So there I stood as hollow as those eyes
without a heart to come back to me.
