Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Angelica

Time slowly goes by as I lay in the comfort of my bed
Envelope in an ocean of blankets, but I toss and turn
Like a boat in a storm as a wave of thoughts crash in my head
While my body refuses to shut own for the night like it should.

Sweat trickles down my face like the first drop of rain
Sliding down a flower’s petal as I am exhausted,
But my eyes stay wide open refusing to ever close
And now I lay staring at the clock in the dark waiting for the sun to rise.
