Shot Down and Liberated

Shot Down and Liberated

A Poem by Angelica

One gulp after another to take it all away.
One moment in time to forget all that has happened.

Fire burns in my throat as it caresses the gash where
My glowing heart once stood, but now darkness is all that lies.

Numb and ill; poison circulates through my mind,
Body, and soul as rain and thunder emerge.

All the strikes, all the hits, all the blows, the pain is too much
To tolerate anymore while I hold my savior between my fingers.

With one quick movement I am liberated from this world.
A wondrous sound is heard world round, but all is deaf.
