Open Your Eyes

Open Your Eyes

A Poem by Ahson

Open Your Eyes
As I look into the sky, I see one thing
I see somebody looking down
Looking at what we've become
Looking at what we've done

From The Aesthetic Beginnings
To the now, Gardens of Deception
He Sees it all, all of it together
The corruption of me and you
The reduction in morals of truth
It is all very vivid to him.

Once there was a feeling of lust
this lust was mutual throughout the world
it was the mere simplicity of nature
it was the calming thought of safety
It has now turned precarious

Don't we understand?
He is watching.
Noting our every move.
Noting our every aphorism
Noting our every deception.
Are we not scared?

Some have the audacity,
the nerve to alter the truth.
They Change firm meanings
to meanings that are just loose.

Sunlight glistens onto our faces like
the piercing reflection of a mirror.
We have taken the root of an
immaculate tree and we watch
as it disintegrates into a heap of nothing.

This is the Pinnacle of our wrongdoings.
For once will we forget who is poor and who is affluent?
When our peers arrive we note everything.
We make a corrupt checklist in our mind
that enables us to do nothing but engrave
our future with timidness.

Timid?

We will be.
Once we take off
the demoralizing masks
of the contemporary times.

And then we will remember.
He is watching.
