A Poem by Billy

i feel needles in my arms

and all over my body, light prickly needles

and i can't keep my eyes closed

staying awake and staring at my arm

if i close my eyes i feel them coming

coming to take me away to i don't know where

somewhere frightening

but then i hear the bells

such enchanting sound

it is at odds with the whole world

the whole world who spends its days crying

climbing the twisted metal

rising up out of the world

there is the light of the sun

walking on the mirrors of glass and light

my reflection reaches for the bright, beautiful sun

my heart spills over with the ocean

and all its joys,

and all its sadness
