For My FriendsA Poem by JinxDuring a warm color winter, I found myself doubting The ways of the known world. Sloshing through mud, Rivers of brown rapids Whisk a ladybug’s family Upstream without an oar. Walk down the quivering streets, Yellow lines snake up The lane to hiss under red Brick walls vibrant enough To split the sidewalk just before An electric colored car Screams into you. Good friends of mine said They could show me a ways Away where all would be well, And they were right. Sunny snowfalls play A trick of giving off Just enough light, So that you can’t see A thing, while splashing A gorgeous tint of grey Atop the footprints I followed like a clock. I could hear the silence Thumping to a vicious roar As I marched into the stainless Steel mirror, muddled Liquid face, swirling enough To be worthless as it makes Stupid sense. Before a trigger Pull’s second could pass, I caught a silver cardinal Shoot from his perch, Clawing my eyes away Long enough for the glass To melt, leaving in my hands A silver frame of my beautiful Black and white world. What needed to be seen, Is shown. © 2011 Jinx |
