The Nature of True Friendship

So I saw this squirrel sitting

In the center of the parking lot,

Parked out munching on a snickers

Or two with his furry friend

Keeping his watch from under

The Subaru.

You know what?

I wonder what it’s like, being

One of them, as I observe

His cute little claws skittering

Over the chocolate trophy

Caked in gold.

 Do they rush,

As we are prone, to the next

Days new Holy Grail false idol

Coated in glam and glitz and glitter?

No, I’m sure they don’t" I envy

These two true friends’ selfless

Devotion. Serving the other

Before itself. This one’s turn

Must be up. I notice his dear

Brother deftly approaching from

His rear with a dagger.
