Reborn

Last night, I awoke.

No one else had even made the attempt.

And the morning light, my eyes choke.

Fluttering lashes, hair unkept.

I breathe in the freedom.

It tastes like lonliness.

Exhale the seclusion.

It escapes like homliness.

I twist and turn.

Try to sleep again.

But we never seem to learn.

Once life changes it becomes the way it's always been.

I really like this. I like the rhyming scheme that you have in this piece. Attempt and unkept was will thought out. I also like how you said that he was blinded but not by closing his eyes but how they were choked that was very unique and original. overall I would rate this as one of my favorites I have read recently.
