Country LifeA Poem by Amanda...thoughts of a past life, at least the better part of it...
Country Life Like I do to clear my thoughts, I have come to discover That I am missing the sights, The sounds of country life ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Though the city has modern conveniences, I long for the much slower, simpler pace… The beauty of the fields of green That stretches out as far as the eye can see, The sweet smell of honeysuckle and mimosa Cloying the evening air with their fragrance, Walking in the warm summer rain Not worrying about getting soaked to the skin, Gazing into the night sky Without the obstruction of lights, Pointing out the constellations Learned when I was but a child, The cacophony of the crickets and cicadas Making their music unhindered, Coyotes in the distance Their mournful calls to the moon, But mostly, I miss the quiet, peaceful feeling The easing of the mind and soul And the rejuvenation of the heart, In releasing all worries in my life… To the four winds
