Encompassing Loneliness

Encompassing Loneliness

Loneliness looms ever closer

Wrapping this existence like a cold blanket

I take solace in the fact that I can still feel

It is better than the numbness of naught

Taking comfort in the bone chilling sensation

Embracing me in its embodying circle,

Welcoming it like a long lost lover

The desolation of the past

Meets the uncertainty of the future

In present time…

A maelstrom of emotions

Surge through me like rain swept leaves

In the wake of a storm,

Falling to the wayside…

Disparity, wretchedness abound

A convivial sensation of release

Scattering them to the winds,

Taking consolation in doing so…

Preference subsistence in a solitary state

Unafraid, dismissing of all else

Without the pain of heart and soul

Encompassing loneliness,

But not without hope,

Ultimately a far better alternative

Than endeavoring to survive

The agony of a broken heart…

Speaking of wordplay.... the words are artiulated, and laced with emotion. Magnificently expressed. Each stanza bears weight especially the last one.

I am thinking it is very emotionally heartbreaking and yet has such a great silver lining... realizing to be alone sure beats being dead cause you still have a chance for new adventures...

I take solace in the fact that I can still feel
It is better than the numbness of naught
Taking comfort in the bone chilling sensation
Embracing me in its embodying circle,

Very powerful lines.

My heart began to sink as I read through this wonderfully written piece. To say that I had a favorite line or stanza would only take away from the brilliance of the anguish portrayed. The opening lines were captivating and I found myself eager to keep reading. This solitude of which you speak, while difficult to accept at first, will only make you stonger. Be steadfast dear friend...as I said, it cant rain all the time. A beautiful write, as is always the case.

Your words are quite powerful in this emotional poem of loneness. the expressions of words captures the mind and soul of your readers and drifts them into this world of dimly lit sky's and wind torn eyes. Reaching for hope and wholeness as one's tears dry up. Nice write.
