A Matter of Understanding

A Matter of Understanding

A Poem by Amanda
"

...assumptions made...

"

A Matter of Understanding

It is all a matter of understanding

Is what I say to myself…

Getting the wrong idea

From all the thoughts in my head

Believing in something

That may not have been there,

Assumptions made….

Conclusions drawn…

Fantasies built from my imagination,

Of what I wanted it to be.

Sorry I made you uncomfortable,

Treading where I should not have gone,

Jeopardizing the relationship

That we had built together…

Now I am left wondering,

Have I pushed us over the ledge?

Did I risk destroying the deep caring,

Mutual respect and trust?

It was never my intent,

To cause you pain, to upset the balance…

I want to go back~

Please say we can,

To the time and place

Where we were before…

These words catch my eye, as I think they nail down exactly what happens all the time and causes so much annoyance....

Believing in something
That may not have been there,
Assumptions made.
Conclusions drawn
Fantasies built from my imagination,
Of what I wanted it to be.

Soooooooooooooooooo easy to do.

I love this piece because I can relate to it terribly! I'm sure the readers will concur, but I personally understand what it's like to have your emotions draw conclusions which leads to assumptions and bad decisions.

I loved the effortless flow, brilliant usage of words, great plot ....but the thing which I loved most about it, is its trueness...This is genuinely such a deep and true piece of writing...
"I want to go back~
Please say we can,
To the time and place
Where we were before" - This is really personal and sad indeed, but so true....that even though you want to go back but you can't....
I really loved it, thanks a lot for sharing it :)

It is easy to make assumptions, and misunderstandings are a part of life, I wish you the very best.

You are so true... when you jump to conclusions it can hurt a relationship, it may not be evident at first but it can slowly eat away at love like a cancer when the one accused stats to resent the mistrust...
Like they say "Assumption is the mother of all F' ups".
Wonderfully expressed.
