One Voice

One Voice

A Poem by Amanda
"

I am only one, but with others we can become ONE VOICE...

"

My mind wanders

To a different time and place

Where there are no wars, no strife

Where peace is the norm,

Not the exception…

Is it possible?

Not just a dream

Can it come to pass?

Can’t we all live as one,

In unity and at peace?

The dream is not an unattainable one

If we all join in one voice,

A show of solidarity

To take up the sword of justice and peace

Not to fight, but to stand up for what is right

The road to the world being in tranquility

Will not be an easy one

It is much easier to take up arms

Than to talk and resolve the differences

I am not an activist,

Though I am a pacifist

I want to make a difference

I do have a voice to join

Others who wish for the same

To speak out against the atrocities

To speak out against the wars

To go about change in the ways of peace

To settle petty differences over power,

Greed and the struggle over God’s lands

I am only one,

But with the joining of others,

We can and will make a difference

It will not be easy, this I know...

Amanda, this is such a brilliant piece of writing and as a reader it really touched my heart.
These days, very frequently we hear about Darfur and as an individual we can't initiate anything, but when we all will raise our voice then we can make a difference.
We say that we got to do something otherwise it would be too late, no....too late in NOW!! And we got to do something.
Thanks a lot for the inspiration.

Oh yes I think this is so wonderful...

Where peace is the norm,
Not the exception

really sad to think that is true but it is... when it comes to our government "Peace sells but who's buying?" Thats where it starts and trickles down to the little people... but you are right we must join together for one person alone can't do it... what an excpeptional write.

Yes, it is possible. I think these lines are key...

It is much easier to take up arms
Than to talk and resolve the differences

I think so because talk often involves loss of face, and loss of face to competitive creatures such as men is unacceptable as they imaging anything other than dominance leads to subserviance. If we can disengage this mentality peace will be closer. But how do we change our nature? Speaking with one voice against hate and evil sounds like a very good place to start.

The more we inform people about it, the more we could hope for change soon.... God be with us all

World peace...its such an alien idea. Not because I am a negative person, but because I have seen so much pain and suffering in the brief time that Ive been on this earth. I am sad to say I believe things will get much worse before they get better. This was beautiful poem. The hope it instilled within me, gave me a moments pause. Well done.

Your words are sooo strong and speak to my heart1
I hear you and cherish your dream!
Your desire engulfs my soul
You've used your pen to express a message
a creed and a need that we should "ALL" consider
Very well done, my talent, very well delivered!

Respectfully,
The Duchess...
