In Dreams

In Dreams

A Poem by Amanda
"

...a place where anything is possible...

"

I cry myself into the sweet,

Secret oblivion that is sleep

To dream…to escape

Into a different reality

A realm of our own making

In the deep recesses of the subconscious

Where anything is possible…

The dark shades from the past

Collide with the brightness of the future

Swirling in a maelstrom the mind

Does not comprehend…

Exploding in a spray of colors,

Stained glass effect,

Illuminating the bleak vastness…

Traveling the distance of time and space,

Covering the pain suffered, of lost love,

Recouping the hopelessness felt

When the reality of the actual world

Seems to crash down around me,

Soothing the soul,

Bathing it in new light…

Rising above all the sorrow,

Like the phoenix taking flight

In the myriad of radiance

Forgetting the disparity, the loneliness

Looking forward to the independence

Facing the complexities of life,

Making them simple again…

Only in dreams

Can we face the adversities

And make them pliable to our will,

Conquering them and releasing them

To the winds that can move mountains

For our conscious minds can never accomplish

What our subconscious can do…

Excellent piece, and never mind trying to incorporate something else, your words are more than enough for us! You've encompassed all that i love about dreaming, and delightfully so. I do love how we can and do concur reality there. Some peoples believe that what happens in dream realm happens for real, just, as you say, on the subconscious level. The piece itself is like a dream and it did alter my state while reading! : ) nice.

A painting with words my dear friend I liked this very much!
Only in dreams

Can we face the adversities

And make them pliable to our will,

Conquering them and releasing them

To the winds that can move mountains

For our conscious minds can never accomplish

What our subconscious can do

You have such a clear way of spelling things out yet, with a unique voice. Best description of dreams I have ever heard. Delightful!

Bravo...I enjoyed this very much. My mood has been very dark for some time now. Reading this poem made my heart light. I love the flow and your word usage. Very well done friend. Thank you for sending this request my way.

I wish we could program exactly what we dream. You are so right in this piece...dreams open up our horizons.
They give us hope, they shield us from loss. Nicely done. Rain..

Cannot help there isn't any rhythm. As to content, perfect prose pictured perfection of dream state escapism
Changing to lyrics would only be possible in your dreams. This is fine finished poetry

Bloody brilliant...you really, really get into the subject here. Someone could write a text book of 100,000 words on dreams, the subconscious etc etc and still not get to the essence of the dream state, the subconscious -- from whence our creative impulses also spring -- as you do here. It is bang on. That is exactly what the dream state does.

'The sweet secret oblivion' --- beautiful line and just right, that is exactly what it is! and yes, it is a 'different realitity' and I love that line '...making them pliable to our will...' The wording of the poem seems really strong as if you instinctively KNOW that is it right and there is a dignity about it also...you nailed something down with this one! And it all starts with tears...this also gives it something as it says, 'before the dream state is the real state of pain.' There can't be many human beings alive for whom this poem is not a fundamental truth of their existance.

Wow Amanda, what a beautiful imagery!
I loved the flow, tempo and brilliant usage of words, but it is the well maintained and beautiful imagery which I loved the most!

Stained glass effect,
Illuminating the bleak vastness- I loved these lines the most and the brilliant metaphoric feel which they are conveying.

The closing lines are also perfect and concluded the entire poem very well!
Font and the picture gave an enhanced feel to it,
Great work, like always :)
