Heartbroken

Heartbroken

A Poem by Amanda
"

here's to broken relationships...

"

What can you do

When you thought you had

Found the perfect love

And it was thrown away…

With broken promises and with lies?

Do you forgive?

Do you forget?

Do you let go of that love?

Is it that simple?

Of course, it isn’t

When all that is left

Is hurt, resentment and disappointment

What happened to the love

That was supposed to be there?

It got pushed away,

Covered up by the pain

The misery, the disillusionment…

Like falling in a dark hole

Never to see light again

Heartbroken…

gah. I know that place. It is dark and lonely. An excellent expression of the horrors of endings.

a bit tragic...

I quite liked this poem, and if you're speaking out of experience, all I can say is don't worry. when you find you're true love, and you'll know when it happens, there is nothing that will get in you're way, or at least not for long.

Tis a temporary rock bottom. It's well described and I like the write, but it isn't a complete story though. It's very well done, I like it Amanda.:)

Truly a great worded poem. It speaks so well of emotions that question each and every step we take when we are heartbroken. sometimes we even wonder why we ever try to bond with those of such a temporary nature. A well written poem...nice write

I got a taste of this myself, but we pulled back before it got that deep... I would offer advice but i've never really had it happen...

This is heartbreaking piece(that wasnt meant to be funny, i promise). You are so good at conveying these emotions so that the reader feels it with you. It is a wonderful, terrible(as in tragic) write.

This is really the worst pain of life ...to have a broken relationship and to live it throughout your life..
This is beautifully sad and full of sorrow! Very emotional and deep indeed!

"The misery, the disillusionment
Like falling in a dark hole
Never to see light again"

This is exactly what someone feels after breaking up a relationship! People say that time heals every wound and erases every pain but there are few wounds in life which even Time cannot erase and it gets deeper even with the passage of time...Giving us the same pain and same sorrow!!!
Awesome piece of writing!

When someone breaks your heart, I think they take a little piece of you with them, a piece you can never get back. At the time the pain will seem so extreme you think it's going to engulf you. But what's the alternative? Guard your heart all your life? Never love again? You'll only end up lonely and even more upset than you first started. But if you get up, brush yourself off and try again, take a chance on love (geez, that sounds corny!) then you'll find you can still love, and then, just as a piece of your heart gets broken off, another gets added on again. And it's different and even more special than before. Even though there's a risk, it's well worth it.
This is a brilliant, fantastically-written poem. You convey emotions with such a gentle tenderness. Your skill with words is apparent and you really sculpt the flow and the energy of the poem to make it more effective. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece!

Amanda,

Yes, the struggle of recovering
from heartbreak seems impossible...
a neverending torment ...

I remember. And never want to be there ...
again. Ever.

But what do we do? Stop loving?
Become hardened to prevent another
crushing blow?

No. Why?
Because without love... this life has no meaning.
NONE.

We do heal. Eventually.
And as love would have it....
it finds us again.

The light never burns out,
we just turn our backs to it sometimes.

And yes... forgiveness is key to
movement. No, not that easy.
But why carry their burden?
It slows us down .... too heavy.

Wonderfully written poem Amanda..
as always.

Much love and peace to you my friend...
it will get better. Truly it will...
