Broken

Broken

A Poem by Amanda

my life is broken
you promised forever
but you lied
broken promises,broken vows

things changed, you changed
you broke my heart
you tried to kill my soul
everything was never to be the same

you told me you loved me
you promised forever
but you lied
what am i to do now?

you took my life
tried to mold me to what
you thought i should be
to be mindless, obedient, a nothing

the one thing you didn't understand
that my will is my own
i no longer was yours to control
i am my own person

now my life is broken
but i am free
no longer a mindless thing
i belong to me and no one else

i am me.

I like this. The flow is good. I like what you had to say. I like the last stanza. Very good!

Amen, honey, amen. It takes much courage to walk away from a situation like that....more than most people can muster. Congrats to you for standing tall and taking your power back. Sounds like you've already found the silver lining in this one...good luck on your brave new world!! Excellent piece.

So beautiful, I can feel the pain this person went through of this love. Greatly written and it captures my heart.
