Old saying from a great song. "Can't always get what you want. But if you try sometime you get what you need." I believe sometime fear of disappointment allow us not attempt things. Later in a life we look back and wished we did. There is a wisdom in your poem. People who we want the most. Scare us for fear of disappointment. A excellent poem.
