Where's the poetry filled with adventure? The kind that cries lust and screams pain. The kind that tears open the skies and let's the demons down So we can see we didn't have it so bad after all.
Your shorter works are killing me. This one has such a nice punch at the end. It's true what else is a poet to do then to quantify the human experience, magnify it, and examine it's rawest emotions? As Neil Gaiman put nicely in his poem "Locks" 'We owe it to ourselves to tell stories'. They pass on emotions, and experiences, promote empathy and a non ego-centric view of the world. The written word lasts, and its not hard to find a piece of Villon from the 12th century that makes you laugh or cry or think as much a contemporary work. It's comforting to see the human experience has not changed as much as we tend to believe. I'm rambling at this point, but in short I love this.

You're absolutely right. And I wish I could see more of it in today's poetry, those stories. Althoug.. read moreYou're absolutely right. And I wish I could see more of it in today's poetry, those stories. Although even for me it's been tough to crack the "show don't tell" approach, I feel like a lot of poetry has fallen into the "telling" category and slipped from the "showing." I can talk about "I" and 'Me" as much as I want but unfortunately people tend to not care. When the words "I" and "Me" show up, they read I and Me but know it's the writer's I and Me and I feel that creates a sort of disconnect, unintentionally though, of course. But if we give them a story, a mission, something for them to not just read, but be able to reach out to, we might be able to make a connection. Of course this is all theory and I'm no master of my craft, but we're all trying. And that's the overall beauty of poetry, that there is no absolute. It's us digging and revealing, and that's poetry in itself, the act and the ability. We're all trying here. I just want to see us go further.
Oh and Villon, I haven't read him but just did a quick read on who he is, wow ha, I'm about to do some binge reading. Thank you for the reference.

I'm writing about everything.
Also, I plan on being very experimental on here, so let's all be honest with each other while we're here.
