Sleepover

Sleepover

A Chapter by dani!

"You wanna sleep over tonight?" my best friend, Katie, asked me during Civics on Friday.

I nodded as I copied down the notes that our teacher, Mr. Davis, was writing on the board. I slept at Katie's house almost every single Friday night. My parents think I should just move in with her, I'm at her house so much. There's a reason I'm there so much, though.

Katie's parents are never home. They travel all the time for their work. I've been friends with Katie for three years and I've met her parents once. She basically lives with her brother, Justin. Justin's a senior in our school, while Katie and I are sophomores.  He has got to be the coolest older brother that anyone could ever have. He lets us do anything we want. He'd us drink, stay up all night, party, and act like s***s. We don't do that, but he'd let us.

I groaned as I put my head down on my desk. It was the last period of the day, on a Friday, and I couldn't focus.

"I wish this class would end." I whispered to Katie.

"Miss Lockwood, do you have something to share with the class?" Mr. Davis turned to me.

"Um, no." I mumbled.

"Then pay attention." he said sharply before returning to the chalkboard.

After what seemed like a millenium, the bell rang, freeing the mopey students of Jackson High School into the weekend.

"Yes, sleepover time!" Katie seemed over-excited.

"Yeah," I said, laughing at her enthusiasm. "Hey, do we have any math homework?"

"Oh, come on, girl. It's Friday. Quit worrying about school, and just come on to my house!"

I rolled my eyes and looked at my friend. She was glowing. Her curly, blonde hair was loose and flowing, and her big, brown eyes were wide. Katie was beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. I felt embarrassed to be standing next to her.

"What's with you today, Katie?" I asked. "You seem really.. happy."

"Well, I'm just a happy person." she giggled.

"No, there's definetley something different."

She turned from me, her cheeks getting red.

"It's a boy! Who?" I asked, now getting excited.

"John Kurts! He's so sweet, and hot. He asked me out last period. We're going to a movie tomorrow." she sighed overdramatically as she pushed her hair behind her ear.

"Oh, my God! That's awesome!" I exclaimed. By this point, people were staring at us. We must have seemed like two idiots, screaming at eachother. We both burst out into giggles.

--

"There you guys are. I've been waiting for like, an hour." Justin said as we approached him. He was leaning against his old Ford, the wind blowing his hair around. I'm not going to lie, Justin was hot. Him and Katie were complete opposites of each other, though.

Katie was blonde, with big brown eyes. Justin, on the other hand, had straight, choppy brown hair that went every direction, and blue eyes that you could get lost in. He was tall and thin, but not scrawny. He was quarterback on the school's football team, explaining his many bruises and cuts.

Justin and Katie were the most good looking siblings I'd ever seen. Sure, Justin was hot, but I couldn't think of him like that. He was like a big brother to me. He was my other best friend. When Katie wasn't home sometimes, I'd sit with him in their kitchen and drink soda, waiting for Katie to get home.

We got into the car and he turned on the radio.

"I love this song!" Justin exclaimed, blasting the radio. He started singing at the top of his lungs, and me and Katie burst out laughing. Like I said, he was so cool.

--

That night, Katie and I were in her room, gossiping about girls in our grade, when we were interrupted by her brother.

"I'm taking a shower now, so you guys better not peek. I'll be out in like, a half an hour, okay?"

I laughed and Katie rolled her eyes. "You don't gotta annonce that." she stated.

"I know. I just don't want either of you walking in on me all.. exposed." he shivered before walking out of the door.

"Let's go get some ice cream." Katie suggested. I nodded and followed her into the kitchen.

Two hours later, after a full tub of ice cream, twelve different magazines, and an episode of The Tyra Banks Show, Katie and I were dead asleep on her bed. Or she was, atleast. I woke up in the middle of the night with a craving for fruit loops.

I slowly rose from the bed, careful not to wake up Katie. I tip-toed down the stairs and into the kitchen. I was about to be at the refrigerator when I knocked into something. It looked like a vase. I'd never noticed that before. It rocked back and forth before almost falling and breaking. Just in time, I'd gotten under it and saved the vase. After I was sure it was standing straight again, I backed up into something else.

I jumped, frightened. I turned around to see Justin standing there, shocked, in just a pair of mesh gym shorts.

"Woah, sorry, kid. Didn't see you there."

"Yeah, no problem." I mumbled. "What are you doing up?"

"I could ask you the same question."

"Fine. I woke up and I was.. hungry..."

"Whatever," I saw him roll his eyes.

"How 'bout you?" I asked.

"Eh, couldn't sleep."

"Right."

"So, kid. Let's chat. Come sit down with me."

I laughed, and sat down at the kitchen table across from where he'd just sat down.

"So, I haven't talked to you in a while."

I nodded, skeptical.

"Let's have you answer some questions, shall we?"

I laughed and nodded.

"How old are you?"

"Oh, come on, Jus. You know me."

"Answer the question."

"I'm sixteen."

"I knew that, you didn't need to tell me. God, you think I'm stupid or something?"

I rolled my eyes.

"You got a boyfriend yet, Blue?"

I smiled at the nickname he gave me when I was in eighth grade. My name is Hazel, but he thought that it was wrong to call me Hazel when my eyes were blue. So ever since I've known him, he's called me Blue.

"Nope."

"Really? That's weird. Why not?"

"I dunno." I said, surprised by the shock in his voice.

"Oh," he said. He looked around the room before saying, "Um, I'm getting tired. I think I should get back to bed."

"Yeah, me too."

"Night, Blue."

"Night, Jus."

Don't know why, but Justin makes me curious and interested to know more about him. But he's pretty funny. I like him, kind of. I wanna see what's gonna happen next. I like Hazel too. I hope you continue on this book as well.
