mother earthA Poem by Afzal GitarlBeing inspired by her beauty and understanding the love she offer
When I asked what she thinks of Me, Earth said just before tomorrow;
"It has always been so hard telling my story of misery and sorrow And the relevance of an enemy who's intentions are friendly And the heights I fall from, expecting no aid from over or below And sometimes they reckon me as the husband of a widow And I'm always confined to a pit with not even a window But whenever I sit, and the wind blows Echoes of my past grant me relief from my present And the birds in the sky widespreading their wings with joy and belief Yet, my perceptions are confined to my cell of imaginations With my companion, the destroyer of all that I've built One who feeds me fear when I feed his belly One who feeds me death when the sky feeds me life Yet, an aid to the manifestation of my greatness And a scale of worth who's presence attract, though a life less than ever And an element of bounty and grace towards a being Who would have imagined me without the human being?!" © 2015 Afzal Gitarl |
