in vain

in vain

A Poem by aftervision

                       In Vain

You were always

That kid

The first to bathe

In what another did

That one feeding

When innocense is killed

After telling the unknowing and still believing

That Santa Claus is not real

Now you hide

Behind a smile unpolished unkept

Vowed to love

As if the true you has slept

But you are still that kid

That one born of a sour heart

Others love you

But others are not your truth smart

You have never changed

Still the one getting pleasure from pain

Little do you know

That I know that your smile is in vain

This is something people can relate to. I really liked the ending.

I know alot of naturally mean spirited people and this poem describes them well. Some, I have to assume, have always been that way. Others, I know have always been that way. They seem to get worse and worser and worsest with age, too. Interesting subject matter and well written!
