a shell

a shell

A Poem by aftervision

You say that you’re in love

And expect the same out of me

I don’t say a word out loud

Because yours is not the vision that I see

You talk of deep emotions that move you

And how I have to feel the same

But I still wait for that emotional wave

The one that your way already came

You call it making love

While I hear the sounds of sex

You talk like we are soul mates

While I patiently wait for next

I sorry that you feel

Inside, the way that you do

I really enjoy your company

But never meant to hurt you

I don’t feel the same

And it’s nothing against you

I just don’t feel the same

And there’s nothing that you can do

Another time and another place

A few hearts less or a few heart more

Who knows what the gods

And heaven has in store

Maybe we met before or after our time

Maybe we are just a shell of who we should be

Maybe we are in the here and now

And this is a slow start to a love that’s meant to be.
