We were young

So in love

Set a date

In front of god

We said “I do”

 

Started a family

Proud parents

Doing what we said we'd do

 

Regardless

Of our emotions

We vowed to be forever true

 

Now time has come

And the scene from our home has changed

The person that we knew

Has become estranged

 

I don't know you anymore

And there is no way that you could know me

Question is

Now that we have an empty nest

Do these caged birds fly free

 

We held things down

Long enough

Stayed together when love

Abandoned us

 

Now we have to follow suit
