after that day

after that day

A Poem by aftervision
"

hard truth

"

After that day

Why did you keep me

After that day

Knowing that we

Will never be the same

Knowing that we were over

And love was lost in our name

Drown me

Within the poisoned waters of your stream

And when I came through

You told me to go back to sleep

That it was all just a dream

Why did you offer

What you never intended to try

Why did you continue to water love

When deep inside you wanted it to die

Laid with me

Kissed me

And allowed yourself to be held

Watched while I celebrated victory

In a love that failed

Why did you keep me

After that day

Why not " for the sake of love

Just send me away

after vision

A sad truth indeed. Why do people hold onto people that they know they no longer love or want, especially when someone is out there ready, willing and able. Powerful piece.
