i can lie on love

love

made

me

hard

soft

compassionate

selfish

bitter

and sweet

love grabbed

a young innocent heart

then clipped my wings

before my flight could start

love bathe me

warm waters with floating candle lights

and in the same waters

bestowed the pleasure of lost sight

love lifted me

beyound the comforts of family and friends

taught me to be independent

and then left me in the end

love is not to blame

this i learn through the events of time

but if i never met love

then pain wouldn't be a friend of mine
