Can You See Me?A Poem by Black InkIt's been a year daddy I started a real public school With kids that are like you and mommy My cousin is in the same class as me,but no one has arms like me or are "special in some kind of way" I drew a picture of you,I hope you like it I go to church and sing in the choir daddy I know you can't be here all the time Mommy says you're working Can you see me? It's been six years I'm in the fifth grade now I don't really have friends, you were my only one.. Tiara and mierra have crushes daddy No one has ever passed me the note Or whispered in my ear that someone likes me Is it because I'm different? Do you think I'm ugly daddy? Can you see me? It's been nine years dad Mom claims you're "working" But I see your tombstone everytime we pass the cemetery And I know it wasn't your fault but.. It hurts and no matter how much I try to stop myself from crying the tears still fall My throat collaspes and I can hardly breathe when I try to talk about you There are times where I'll sleep under your favorite covers They still smell like you, well at least to me they do I made principal honor roll, I play soccer, I'm planning on going to college and med school to become a pediatritian Are you proud? Daddy, can you see me?
