Mean Girls

Mean Girls

A Poem by Afayah
"

for AVA Trios... the three of us and what we once were

"

Rumours are a b***h

They stem from lies and envy

Through people who like to hurt;

Persons who couldn’t care less

How immaculate your reputation was

Once before when you were sweet,

            Innocent,

                        A clean slate.

Scandals are a mother f****r

They crawl from the lips of fools

With juicy stories of misinformation

Fibs that disgrace a soul

That was as pure as light –

Before it became a replica of them.

Then through a mysterious twist

Of faith and morals and beliefs

The victim saw their own downfall.

They saw themselves

A doe-eyed girl unaware of hurt…

                       Until now.

So she becomes the b***h,

She becomes the a*****e,

Making a complete metamorphosis

Into not just the rumour,

But, the mill itself.

Whispers that make the ears tingle,

Actions that make the eyes follow,

Words untrue are exchanged

From the mouth of this girl.

Once a victim of false friendships,

A victim of hypocracy’s terror;

Now the root of their anger,

And hurt,

            Pain,

                    Guilt.

She evolved into the best of sins,

The concealed Diablo

Within one’s midst

Carrying out acts of vengeance…

            And self defense.
