Courage

Courage

A Poem by Afayah
"

for J.L.

"

It’s courage that has me thinking

Of all the things we could do

To each other.

It’s courage that gives me

The sudden urge to kiss your lips

Or kiss anywhere else that’s forbidden.

It’s courage that makes us want

To lick and suck each other

Where it feels most wonderful.

It’s courage that allows me to allow you

To thrust your fingers into me

In the most public of places…

            Where anyone can pass by,

            Where anyone can see

            Our sensual foreplay.

It’s courage that tells me

To let you enter me in the most

Unconventional settings…

            In my favourite bookstore,

            On that old bridge,

On a seemingly abandoned staircase.

It’s courage that lets us kiss

With extreme passion

In the middle of somewhere

That every passerby can stare…

            And snicker,

            And blush,

And wish it to be them

            Instead of us.

It’s courage that helps me

To tell you I love you

With such meaning.

It’s courage that teaches me

To accept you for who you are

And love you more

For accepting me for who I am…

            For my smile,

            For my personality,

            For my courage.
