Sometimes

Sometimes

A Poem by Afayah
"

for D.J.

"

Sometimes I think our worlds

Were meant to collide and combine

To make a fantasy realm

Of concealed dreams.

In our reality the heartless dogs

Who call themselves your true friends

Hit you upside the head

With words they believe never hurt,

Look down on you

Pretending to be God

And you are only human.

Sometimes I wish that I could shield you

From the hardships of time

And save you from a bloody social execution.

But all my thoughts become distant

Whenever you smile.

I see a transformation from who was once

A lonely girl into an exalted queen.

Then their barks become inaudible

Because you realize the power you have

To control, torture and destroy your enemies.

I see all of that when I look at you.

Not only from the outside.

In the fantasy world that we share

You have nothing to hide.
