What I Miss the Most

What I Miss the Most

A Poem by Blue
"

What I miss the most

I don’t miss your words

And the pauses in between.

I don’t miss your pictures

That you send to be seen.

I don’t miss your chuckle

When my joke is so lame.

I don’t miss the attention

When you stop playing your game.

I don’t miss the songs

You tell me to listen to.

I don’t miss your laugh

When you’re not being true.

I don’t miss your eyebrows

When you look at me in jest.

I don’t miss your comfort

When you tell me I’m the best.

I don’t miss you, my love,

And sorry that is true.

‘Cause what I miss the most

is the sleep I never knew.

I haven't experienced any good night sleep this week. And the academic pressure is making my brain duller than ever. This is not a quality poem but...*yawn*

Aww. Good luck! I'm glad this week's almost over for me.
Sleep deprivation does make you think differently. It's funny how in the morning after only a few hours of sleep you think "I'm definitely going to bed early tonight", but then a million things to do and the next thing you know it's 2 AM and you are wide awake. Whether it is school stress, relationship stress, writing stress or whatever, sometimes good sleep is hard to get. I sleep maybe 4 hours a night, five days a week, then probably 12 hours on Saturday. It is a crazy life.

I'd say this poem isn't too bad at all, Blue, who knows you may even have a 'sleeper' on your hands here. :)

Didn't see that end coming… there is a reason they say love is blind, cause we don't see the sacrifices we make and what we are losing when we fall for someone bad for us.

Tis my pleasure :)
Moderation is the key, to succeed. But stress is not. Stress leads to burnout and that can kill an academic life without a thought. To succeed, do something you love to restore your spirit and your mind. Diversions frees the mind from stressful tasks. But still your work is quite good.

Thanks, Donald! Your words remind me of the movie "Three Idiots".

You are an amazing writer.
i relate in a different way...being in a volatile relationship...no peace, no sleep, no contentment...

and we pray that something will change...and we breathe a sigh of relief when it is over...and we gladly embrace the serenity and the sleep.

Thank you for sharing your insights, Jacob!
I can relate, but I don't want sleep just a day where I do nothing but write and play all day (or do whatever I want to do). This semester seems like the worst for everyone this year. Keep at it! Only a few more weeks left. Good luck in your studies! What a great poem that sums up this year!

Humorous write! I love how it started and then the end spun out into something else entirely. He isn't missed, she just wants her damn sleep! Love it! :)

Thank you so much, Sye!
I like the twist at the end! Amen to a good night's sleep, hang in there girl! My only real suggested change would be to drop the 'in' from before 'between' in the first stanza. Otherwise, just subtle tweaks to the syllable count and flow; but the idea here is great, so they are not that important.
