Happy valentines, my lover! (Acrostic)

Are we in love?

Have I ever dropped by in your consciousness,

Allowing me superior reign over your rationality?

Parallel to your habitual visits in my waking and sleeping hours,

Potent in dose, advertising romantic insanity?

Yearning for reason, I summoned my muses.

Villains of truth, they bewitched my brain to extremes

And morphed my definition of love to superficial,

Lacking comprehension both in facts and in dreams.

Ever-cunning Cupid struck the arrow of confusion,

Not at all empathetic to my heart's helpless state.

To intuition I submit my contemporary nonsense;

I am at loss between the abyss of love and hate.

Never wise to know what poets write about,

Elaborated by fools, this mystery of unknown origin,

Shall I consider these collective symptoms "love",

Mutually shared and maddeningly believed in?

You professed in solemn countenance, pure

Love to me, never-changing, always present.

Overcoming defiance, I was converted to your claim,

Verified in genuine actions, hyperbole nonexistent.

Eternally-bound by fate's chances and conscious choices,

Reassured we are...in harmony with our hearts' voices.
