Come Back, Come Home

Come Back, Come Home

A Poem by Blue
"

to a prodigal child

"
You've been astray, out in the wild
Pursuer of pleasure, a prodigal child
Now wisdom earned at decade's cost
Yet still in fear of moments lost.

"Come  back, come home...
you do not have to be alone."
With gnawing guilt, with troubled heart
From world's allures you now depart
Set off at once to that one place
With doubting hope in quest of grace.

"Come back, come home...
Where love abounds you've never known."
From miles afar, a distant view
You see your father waiting for you
And soon your soul's stained with regret
For love withheld, for trust unmet.

"Come back, come home...
Share the glory of my throne."
Finally seeing you,  he breaks into run
Joy's on his face at the return of his son
Forgotten faults, forgiven sin
It matters not where you have been.

"Come back, come home...
You've always been my precious own."

Thank you, Daydreamer. Anyway, I love your avatar. You are such a beautiful lady.
Blown away! It seems you and other poets here are really hitting your strides. I am reading one great poem after another tonight and this is no exception. You brought more to the parable of the prodigal son than is in the bible.

I normally try to stay away from religious pieces but this spoke so purely to me. great job

I'm honored. Thank you so much, Anna.
The guilt only exists in the mind of the prodigal one.
Once he gets past his own creation of fear, he finds his way back.
He is welcomed into open arms, filled with love and joy.
Beautifully captured Arzel. You are a Joy.

Thank you, Leslie. That's exactly what I intended to achieve.
Your poem flows so beautifully and the rhyme is lovely. I really like the bold verses as well - very effective and memorable. Gorgeous writing my friend.

Thank you, Julie.
There is a religious nature here, a biblically inspired piece. Nicely penned, Arzel!

When I'm sane, my muse is into religion. Haha. Thank you, Rita.
