Just like...

Just like...

A Poem by Blue
"

a summer memory

"
I gave you my trust.
You broke it.
Just like how you broke my innocence
ten summers ago
between the numbers of hide-and-seek
behind the bushes
while twilight embraced the earth.
Just like how you embraced me
from my back
as you whispered in my ear
a plea to keep quiet
so as not to be discovered.
I stayed silent.
Just like how you silenced yourself
when you pressed your weight
on top of me
and your hands explored
what's beneath my clothes.
I looked at you.
You smiled.
Just like how you used to smile
during those innocent days
of climbing trees
and chasing rainbows.

You're the older brother I never had.

I ran away.
Just like how I run away
from affections of men,
still scared and scarred...

And summers were never the same again.
Just like me.

innocence lost....;;a great theme for a love poem that moved from childhood to young adult hood.
nicely worded.

Thank you a lot, Dana.
A tragic story. Well told. Now I'm sad.

"Now I'm sad" made me laugh, Mark. I'm not sure if that's the response you intend to receive by that.. read more

Heh ya never know. Without context we have to add our own to someone else's words. :)
This is so raw, so vivid. The mixing of elements really adds a hint of what I'm going to call irony. The short and long stanzas add to a bluntness in the poem. The meter plays off this well. I can't say that I "enjoyed" reading it, but I'm glad I did.

Wow, thank you for this wonderful comment, Chaz.
Writing about it takes strength because you can go back to this moment every time you read this. I feel your words and your struggle.

Thank you, Lovely.
The emotion is so radiant... very powerful, very well written. I sense the pain that's felt just from these words, and it amazes me how such pain can create something so beautiful. Great Piece !

This is absolutely heartbreaking.. Wonderfully written and so many lines were so simple, yet so deep in the context. You did a fantastic job with this!
