Again

Again

A Poem by Blue
"

same things

"

Today, I decided to waste  my life again.

So I committed myself to bed

and wished for sunlight to fade

and reality, too.

Last night, I heard voices again.

My demons.

Nothing new to tell, really.

But I began to believe them.

I was converted to their religion.

Tomorrow, I'll wake up again.

(If I'm unfortunate, that is.)

But maybe I'll be granted mercy

to forget how to breathe

and remember how to live.

But on the other hand, a sad lowly caterpillar commits herself to her cozy cocoon in the Fall where she sleeps all Winter. In the Spring, she’s transformed into a beautiful iridescent butterfly princess. Then she takes to wing, and soars high into the sky transfixed by the ecstasy of her eternal moment of glory.

Arzel...I just read this (and the description, afterward). It's a mixture of sadness and fear, but the fact that you said it was written "ages ago" puts a little perspective on it.

I know that we all go through those stages when it seems like everything is crashing down on us, and that was the sense I got from this poem. The most interesting part, to me, was the:

"Last night I heard voices again.
My demons.
Nothing new to tell, really.
But I began to believe them."

The way it's described has a terrifying tone, but I didn't take the "demons" part literally (at least I didn't think it was literal). Just from experience, I know that I have my inner demons and voices, and some of them are downright malicious.

Speaking of which, I've started working on my piece for our collaboration, and reading this helped me write it, believe it or not! I'll send it to you when it's finished, of course.

I've had plenty of battles with personal demons and nights just like you wrote about. It is wonderful how well you portray the depth of feelings with so few verses. Powerful and wonderful to read.
